The Las Vegas music video shoot, with DJ Kane and Ricky Rick

AZ Deals in Las Vegas again with cumbia kings DJ Kane and Ricky Rick’s “Contigo Me Voy” music video

It’s a chilly Friday morning in Las Vegas and those of us who had been up all night were in no mood for coffee and doughnuts….we needed half naked women and a heated pool.

Adorned in nothing more than skimpy bikinis, all I can think as I step on the scene is: these models must be freezing.

One of them said oh so eloquently, “It’s so cold I can cut you with my nipples!”

The first thing I see as I walk into the palm tree laden, beach-like pool area is Ali helping the girls put on their baby oil. It’s not actually one of his duties but I’m guessing that’s one of the perks when you’re a young, handsome, director.

“It’s really all the attention to detail that makes him a great director,” I said to Zeus.

“Well, at least he’ll be easy to find today,” He replied, and both of us chuckled.

DJ Kane and Ricky Rick were both pumped and ready for a full day of shooting, the cold crisp air actually adding to their energy. Unfortunately being that it was pretty early in the day, the models weren’t too energetic, and the cold had them barely moving. But after about 20 min they warmed up nicely and started dancing hard and having fun.

I have to give it to Kane and Ricky for not only being good musicians but probably the most down-to-earth people I have ever met! And their crew, including their manager, Andy, were all super friendly.

There were even a few fans staying at (and working at) the hotel. When the fans came up, with insane enthusiasm to meet their idols, Kane and Ricky were right there being friendly and humble (Two traits you wish every musician had).

The song is fun and energetic and no one on set could help but bob their heads and dance. You can just tell the song is going to be a hit. As a fan of cumbia, and a Latin dance instructor, I know I would love to hear this track at a salsa club. I’d dance the night away.

As the morning turned to afternoon, and the Las Vegas sun warmed up, we got the talent into the pool and gave the girls beach balls and squirt guns to have fun with. I’m sure you can imagine how many “girls playing with balls” jokes were accidentally stumbled into by everyone on set, occasionally sending us all into fits of laughter.

Our last shot was a cruising scene, where we had a caravan of low-riders driving down LV blvd. During which we randomly saw the creative director of the L.V. branch of Assurance Advertising walking along the strip with his family. Talk about random.

For this shoot Ali and Zeus decided to get a camera crane (or jib) to add sweeping movements, and ultra high/low shots to the video, which I thought was a nice touch. To the viewer it gives the feeling of dancing along, which is a great tool for pulling them out of their seats, and into the video.

But you know what? No matter how hard I try to explain the look and feel, I won’t do it justice. You’re just going to have to watch it for yourself by
